How it works
Step 1
Give the address
Your address fixes the property being priced, and your postcode tells the Estimator Engine what building costs are like in your area.
Step 2
Answer questions about your house
Tell it about your existing house and the proposed extension. Where you're not sure of a measurement, you can choose a range.
Step 3
Get your report by email
A PDF with a price range for each part of the build and a total. You can come back once within 7 days to revise it.
What the Estimator Engine is for
It will help you
✔ See whether your project is likely to be affordable, at the very start
✔ Change options during your calculation, such as a flat or pitched roof, and see what each change does to the cost
✔ Set a realistic budget before you pay for drawings or speak to builders
It won't
X Design your project. It is a pricing tool: it prices the choices you make, and leaves the design to you and your architect.
X Give you a builder's quote. It is an estimate made from your answers.
X Tell you whether you'll get planning permission or meet building regulations. It can price an extension that wouldn't be allowed.
X Price changes to the layout of your existing house, or new kitchen units
Once the numbers work for you, you must get professional advice on planning permission and building regulations before going further.
