The free articles and videos are general information, not advice on your property. You can view and share links to the material, but not copy it. Guides are PDF downloads: once the download begins you lose the right to cancel, but a faulty guide will be replaced or refunded. Consultations and the Estimator Engine have their own terms.

1.1 This website is run by RLA Media Ltd, trading as Real Life Architecture ("Real Life Architecture"), a company registered in Scotland, company number SC768354, registered office 18-20 North Street, Glenrothes, KY7 5NA. Its trading address is 14 Albany Street, Edinburgh, EH1 3QB.
1.2 Níall Hedderman is a director of RLA Media Ltd and an architect registered with the Architects Registration Board, registration number 075242H.

2. What these terms cover
2.1 These terms apply to your use of this website, to comments you post on the blog, and to guides bought from the shop. By using the website you accept them.
2.2 Other services have their own terms, which apply instead of these where they say something different: the Terms and Conditions for Video Consultations and the Estimator Engine Terms of Use.
2.3 The Privacy Policy explains how your personal information is used.
3. Free content is general information, not advice
3.1 The articles, videos, blog posts and other free material on this website are general information about building, extending and buying homes in the UK. They are not advice on your property or your project, and you should not rely on them as if they were.
3.2 Costs, rules and guidance change, and every property is different. Before you make a decision or spend money, get advice on your own circumstances, for example through a video consultation.
3.3 Real Life Architecture tries to keep the website accurate and up to date, but does not promise that it is complete, current or free of errors.
4. Using the material on this website
4.1 The text, videos, drawings, photographs, guides and designs on this website are owned by RLA Media Ltd, or used with permission, and are protected by copyright.
4.2 You may view them, print or download pages for your own use, and share links to them.
4.3 You may not copy, republish, sell or reuse them, in whole or in part, including to train or feed an automated or AI system, without written permission.
5. Guides from the shop
5.1 Guides are sold as PDF downloads. The price is the price shown when you buy. RLA Media Ltd is not VAT registered, so the price you see is the price you pay.
5.2 At checkout you ask for your guide to be available to download immediately, and you acknowledge that you lose your 14-day right to cancel once the download begins. If you have paid and the download has not begun, you may cancel within 14 days of purchase and your payment will be refunded in full.
5.3 Your guide must be as described, of satisfactory quality and fit for purpose. If it is not, for example because the file is faulty, email Real Life Architecture and it will be replaced or, if that is not possible, your payment will be refunded.
5.4 A guide is licensed to you for your own use. You may not share it, republish it or sell it.
5.5 Like the free content, a guide is general information, not advice on your property (section 3).
6. Blog comments
6.1 If you post a comment, you must not post anything that is unlawful, defamatory, abusive or offensive, that infringes anyone's rights, that includes someone else's personal information, or that advertises or promotes anything.
6.2 You are responsible for what you post. You keep ownership of your comment, but you allow Real Life Architecture to display it on the website.
6.3 Real Life Architecture may remove any comment, without giving a reason. Replies to comments are general information, not advice on your property.
7. Links to other websites
7.1 Links to other websites are provided for convenience. Real Life Architecture is not responsible for their content.
8. Availability and changes
8.1 Real Life Architecture may change, suspend or withdraw any part of the website at any time, and does not promise that it will always be available or free of viruses.
8.2 These terms may be updated. The current version is always on the website, with the date it was last changed.
9. Liability
9.1 Real Life Architecture is not responsible for any loss that comes from relying on the free content on this website.
9.2 Nothing in these terms limits or excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited or excluded.
9.3 Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights, including your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
10. Complaints and governing law
10.1 If you have a complaint, email project@RealLifeArchitecture.co.uk. It will be acknowledged within five working days, and you will receive a full response, or an update, within twenty working days.
10.2 These terms are governed by Scots law. If you live elsewhere in the United Kingdom, you keep the protection of the consumer law where you live and may bring proceedings there.
